Are you also empowered when accepting your powerlessness?

So in a classic move I have altered my course of action and now plan to attend

 www.Syracuse.edu entering the L.C. Smith http://www.ecs.syr.edu/

College of Engineering. Of which I have a 50% tuition Merit Scholarship.

I am willingly agreeing to loan agreements in the sum of $20,000+ per year.

I am waiting for them to cash my $450 dollar deposit check, from my

$8/hr part time job checking account. I guess I should have done better

on the standardized tests. But I failed to differentiate being a dick-head,

from being a kid who cared about school. In other words no one gave

me any “cool” reasons for doing well. I was not cool enough to invent any

for myself.- I took the mediocre road.

Regardless, I updated the pictures on Current Current.

I am working on Decision Making Systems: Can you help me?

Dear Friends, You know games like MASH, Eeenie Meanie Miney Moe,

and Magic 8-balls?
They are Decision Making Systems, Can you help me think of some

more of them? For the Good of Cognitive Science!
What I have so far:

-MASH
-Buttercup flower pluck
-Magic 8-ball
-Apple Stem Twist
-Eeanie Meanie Miney Moe
-Train Train Number 9
-Lottery
-Short Straw
-Russian Roulette
-I Ching
-Prayer
-Heads or Tails

-4 Fingers Paper Game.

Thank You Dear Friends! And Brainstormers’!

Listening to the Way You Feel = Music

A Little Mix
From Deven---

Track 00: The Narrator, I borrow the Apples in Stereo opening track The Narrator, which debuted on their [1995] album Fun Trick Noise Maker. I like a good introduction.

Track 01: Glowworm, my favorite track from the FTNM Apples in Stereo album. It really lights me up, "Keep your picture in my pocket".

Track 02: Don't Call Me Whitney, Bobby, ISLANDS is one of my all time favorite bands; primarily because it played constantly during my time in Philadelphia. I've seen them twice. It calls to your lactose; and when he sings, "I need another, I need another", I mentally fill in, "first kiss". The album is Return To The Sea.

Track 03: To Go Home, M. Ward is a spiritually conscious young man, that voice is best described as warm and grave. This is from the [2006] album Post-War. "Man it's great to be alive, it takes the skin right off my hide".

Track 04: Troubles, The Beta Band. This is from the album Heroes to Zeroes. ---- --------- and I cried openly together while once listening to this song.

Track 05: Everyday Feels Like Sunday, Of Montreal. This is from a bonus download album that came with the Sunlandic Twins release. I saw them perform this live in Albany, New York. They proclaimed that this song was so-not-goth.

Track 06: Androgynous, The Replacements. This song is so beautiful. 'Nous' is 'we' in French. From the Let It Be [2008] album.

Track 07: Gemini (Birthday Song), WHY? is a secret favorite of mine. Yoni Wolf the front-man, is a tangled who, whom reveals his pointed vulnerabilities in a language of his own creation designated to capture his existential reality. Relevant themes, your sign, across oceans. From Elephant Eyelash.

Track 08: All My Stars Aligned, St. Vincent. From astrological charts we find the position of heavenly bodies. She really pierces the space with her voice and grabs the tender parts of you. From the album Marry Me. "What was your question? I've got the answer."

Track 09: Who Cares What The Question Is?, The Bees. This album [2007] Octopus is prized in my collection. I see this album as a sort-of spiritual successor to Yellow Submarine. The Bees routinely embrace nautical themes.

Track 10: Hey Eugene, Pink Martini. I sing this song when I drive at night. I like in the second third when the music builds and she really belts. This is the title track of the album, Hey Eugene! It's a story about two people who find each other under strange circumstances, "Does any of this ring a bell? Eugene?"

Track 11: Trance Manual, John Vanderslice. [2005] Pixel Revolt, I have many times over called this my favorite album. I have listened to this album 200+ times, easily. This album on repeat all night for 6 weeks straight when I was feeling particularly vulnerable in 2006.

Track 12: Penelope, Pinback. This is my favorite song from [2001] Blue Screen Life. "floating upside down".

Track 13: Pancakes for One, Of Montreal. Aldhils Arboretum [2002]. Kevin Barnes is a faun of a man, and I learned a little of what it means to emote from his prolific incessantly progressing career.

Track 14: My Baby Loves a Bunch of Authors, Moxy Fruvos. [1993] Bargainville. This album is pure fun. Its a compassionate touching romp that also delves into some of the rather serious transgressions humanity had made in the prior twenty years. We make a literate couple. I admit I don't know half of the authors they sing about.

Track 15: A Better Son/Daughter, Rilo Kiley. [2002] The Execution of All Things, this album used to truly scare me. Jenny Lewis is a diagnosed bi-polar, "The lows are so extreme that the good seems fucking cheap". I think that she uses this here as a battle cry, notice the marching drums.

Track 16: All Things Good and Nice, Jets to Brazil. [2000] Four Cornered Night, their second and final album. I used to truly despise the fact that they were not one to go the distance. I have once or twice called JTB my favorite band. I feel like this song is a purely optimistic version of A Better Son/Daughter.

Track 17: Sidewalk Serfer Girl, Super Furry Animals. You might hear me call SFA the 'best band since the Beatles'. I gosh-dang mean it too. This is my favorite track from my favorite SFA album Rings Around the World [2001]. "I'd do anything to catch you falling". I love ambiguous language that implies simultaneous interdependent interpretations of meaning. Oh and that’s the spelling of ‘Serfer’ on the album, I’m pretty sure.

Track 18: White Winter Hymnal, Fleet Foxes. [2008] Ragged Wood, I think this is my favorite FF song. Multiple-Male-Harmony kind of symbolic of what needs to happen globally. Kind of word-painting. "I turned around and there you go."

Track 19: Chicago, Sufjan Stevens. Without saying easily one of the single most talented individual music makers of our generation. From the [2005] Illinois. My future home, I guess.  At the age of 17, the summer after graduation, I jumped on the trampoline at my parents house for 4 hours straight, with this album on repeat; I began to hallucinate/day-dream, when this track played I had to lay down and stare at the passing clouds and just feel.

Track 20: Diamond Day, Vashti Bunyan. V. B. is a treasure. A psych-folk artist from the 70's she disappeared from the music industry until 2005 with the release of The Look Aftering. This is the title track from a compilation of her early work. It opened that album, I think it does just as well closing this album. I listen to this song, and everything is fresh in my mind like clear crystal.

---It took me six hours to compile this for you. These songs have been little piece of me. I listened to this cd many times through to make sure it was right.

98.6 degrees of freedom

I accepted a post at the Illinois Institute of Technology, IIT.EDU.

--Downtown Chicago, South Side, (Today in the shower I contemplated Alaska again.)

I re-calibrate, forgot to ignore my audience, remember instead what I’d actually like to do to them.

I’m back at my parents house, retreating from Oswego, as I await some Public Transportation to transplant my ass into the Chi.

I decide to attempt transcend my Oobness. I have a list of possible outcomes, a list of means of producing these possible outcomes. And I have me. The little ball of shit, who would rather fuck everyone, blast the system to pieces, invalidate the concept of truth, and grin at the inevitability of the defeat of determinism.

-Look out Karma, Look out Fate, Look out Chaos, I’m here to prove my lack of presence.

Who do we dare each other to be?

------------------

So far on the grad school front:

I was accepted into Syracuse University. www.Syracuse.edu

They will give me 50% Tutition due to a Merit Scholarship.

For a M.S. in computer science, that’s still like 20+ grand a year, before living expenses.

---For that kind of debt I’d have to get a job building guidance systems for blowing up

school children somewhere, or designing computer systems to spy on my friends and neighbors.

Then I’d be all, not my fault,- “I'm bourgeois complacent.”

Still waiting to hear from:

University of Alaska , Fairbanks

www.Wright.edu --Dayton Ohio

www.IIT.edu ---Chicago, IL

www.Drexel.edu ---Philadelphia, PA

Mostly just want to be nowhere or in a city again.

New stuff!

This pretty much explains it, http://ohdeven.com/Current.aspx

I’ll get some drawings up soon.

Thinking about drawing a frat-pledge carrying a wooden cut-out of a frat pledge getting spanked and butt-buddy-ed by another frat kid.

Aloha ha ha ha, You’ve got to be kidding me.

Hello and Goodbye,

Here and Gone

I’ve been going through some of my old stuff, I believe some of my early work in AI is worth a second look, http://ohdeven.com/Documents/peepshow.pdf .

Have you seen Oobs? I wish I had the resources to finish it, AKA TIME! http://ohdeven.com/Oobs.aspx

*New* *New* NEW NEW NEW

http://ohdeven.com/OSUSPRING10.aspx

In the process of adding all my notes from this, the last semester of my undergrad career, cross fingers for grad school. The Genius grant seems unlikely.
