The Institute of Higher Learning and Lower Living
This page will hopefully serve as the starting point for a non-physical institute of higher learning and lower living. The institute is more of a concept rather than a physical body, place, or organization.
Members of the institute are volunteers who volunteer neither their time, money, nor energy. Members of the institute simply acknowledge that they in their lives aspire to learn "many important knowledge’s" of the world, mind, body, soul, and heart.
All the while engaged in a standard of living that is not extravagant and hopefully not excessive. Members of the institute regard the value and worth of money as much lower than that of the joys of the soul, mind, body, and heart which cannot be attained with cotton bills and decimal points.
Members of the Institute do not have to agree on anything, be it philosophy, politics, ethics, etcetera. But are unified in one simple accessible belief, "It is important, or at least good, to learn things, and it is much less important, or less good, to worry about money, acquiring wealth, or evaluating others financial status's.
I call us members not in the traditional sense, there are no dues or cards or red fez caps; but in a sense that ties us together. I could just as easily call us brothers or sisters. But we are members of an Institution with no obligations and seemingly no benefits.
Yet then why construct such an entity. I believe that their might exist some undocumented, unmeasured benefit to such a communal idea. To identify the bond of independent like mindedness. And it must surely be worth it to spend mere moments and few words in trying to investigate such a relationship.
I think many members of the Institute of Higher Learning and Lower Living will find a flaw in this title. As it is a title designed to be read by non-members. I am almost certain members will find that they subscribe Higher Learning and Higher Living, though to us Higher Living is Higher Learning, it is the peace and calm of an investigative mind.
I encourage all who wish to learn more to read on, and any and all who feel they would like to join to send me an email, deven(at)ohdeven.com, replacing the (at) with @ of course.
I would love to share links of your website, artwork, contact information, anything.
With respect and admiration,
Deven,
